Bernie Glassman 1939-2018

This influential Buddhist teacher was a pioneer of Zen in the West, and he blended his spiritual practice with a passion for social activism.

Bernie was one of the most creative forces in Western Buddhism, creating new paths, practices, and organizations to serve the people who fall between the cracks of society. He was a leader in the Socially Engaged Buddhism movement, and founder of Zen Peacemakers International.
